The weekend of March 15th saw many rewards for the YMCA of Darke County gymnasts. The Level 4 & 5 teams traveled to Piqua on Saturday to compete against 12 additional teams from the Southwest Ohio area in the District Championship Meet. The YMCA of Darke County Level 6 through 8 competitive gymnastics teams traveled to Hamilton, Ohio November 10th to compete in the Harvest Moon Invitational. With approximately 10 teams and over 200 gymnasts attending, the girls from Darke County held their own and came out on top....full release
The YMCA of Darke County Level 4 and 5 competitive gymnastics teams recently traveled to Kettering, Ohio to compete in their first meet of the season. Six other YMCA teams and over 120 Level 4 and 5 gymnasts participated in the event....full release

The hard work continues to pay off for the gymnasts from the YMCA of Darke County. The competitive team traveled to the Sidney-Shelby County YMCA on December 8 to compete against other gymnasts from the Southwest Ohio YMCA cluster, and brought back many awards....full release
The YMCA of Darke County Sharks swam to terrific times as the DCY swim team earned third place with 989 points in the third annual New Years Invitational on Saturday, January 5th, with eight year old Cassidy Kaiser qualifying for “AA” YMCA Championships and most team members shaving time off of their favorite events. One hundred and seventy six swimmers from six area teams attended the event, which was held at the YMCA of Darke County in Greenville....full release
The YMCA of Darke County “Sharks” Swim Team had their first meet of the season in Celina at the Auglaize-Mercer YMCA on October 20th. The DCY swim team is off to a great start this season with 53 swimmers. Leading the swimmers again this year is head coach, Scott Smith. We also have three new coaches; Lauren Penrod, Andrea Townsend, and Shawn Agne, bringing in a lot of new talent and making for a very strong coaching group this season....full release
Lebanon – The YMCA of Darke County (DCY) Sharks swim team traveled to Lebanon, Ohio to participate in the Polar Bear Invitational held at Countryside YMCA on November 30, December 1 and December 2. Nineteen DCY swimmers, along with coaches Scott Smith and Lauren Penrod, attended the meet, which had 552 swimmers altogether....full release
SIDNEY- The DCY Sharks swim team placed fifth with 49 points in the 27th Annual Aqua Pentathlon on November 10, held at the Sidney-Shelby YMCA in Sidney, Ohio....full release

The DCY Swim Team competed on Saturday, November 3 at the Great White Invitational at the Auglaize Mercer County YMCA in Celina. The swimmers competed very well placing 4th out of ten teams....full release
MARYSVILLE – The YMCA of Darke County (DCY) Sharks swimmer Lexi Addington won second place and YMCA “AA” Championship cutsas the Sharks participated in the First Annual Union County Invitational hosted by the Union County YMCA at Marysville on January 12, 2008. The Sharks took fifth place overall in the meet, earning a team total of 979 points....full release
Marysville – The YMCA of Darke County (DCY) Sharks swim team traveled to Marysville on December 15 to participate in the Union County YMCA Tri-Meet with the Miami County YMCA also in attendance. Twenty DCY swimmers, along with all four coaches, Scott Smith, Lauren Penrod, Andrea Townsend and Shawn Agne attended the meet....full release
The YMCA of Darke County Sharks Swim Team put in some extra laps to raise money for the team. Twenty-one swimmers participated and raised over $1,330. The fundraiser is used to cover coaches’ expenses and to help reach their goal of purchasing an automated timing system. All YMCAs use a timing system at their invitationals to provide accurate times for the swimmers. The swim team hopes to begin purchasing parts of the system this swim season.
